The Arts
What We Do
For Visual Arts, each course has the opportunity for students to explore and experiment with several different mediums such as clay sculptures and acrylic, watercolour and oil painting.
In Media Arts, we are fortunate to be working with current photography and sound software and Apple technology in the classroom.

ART COUNCIL
Welcome!
Our department offers opportunities for students to explore different styles of art while building a strong foundation for further study. Students in Visual Arts will become familiar with the Elements and Principles of Design and will use the creative process to produce personal artwork. Critical analysis skills will be developed while exploring Visual Arts in a contemporary and historical context.
Students who are interested in programs related to the humanities and to the performing, visual, literary, and media arts will enjoy the possibility of further study in the following areas: architecture, creative writing, film and cinema studies, fine arts, graphic design and production, journalism, foreign languages, radio and television broadcasting, advertising, public relations, illustration, animation and photography.
Different courses specialize with specific mediums and techniques, ranging from Media Arts and emerging Technologies to Drawing and Painting within the traditional mediums of watercolour and acrylic paints. At the end of the program Grade 12 students will submit a proposal and have the opportunity to showcase their own personal artwork in a self-directed collaborative art exhibit. Overall, our courses offer students a terrific learning experience within a supportive classroom environment.
Enjoy!
