Visual Art (Grade 12- College/University)

Students will explore various techniques, materials and media.

 

Projects for this course may include but are not limited to:

 

- The study of figure & ground relationships, colour vibrancy, static & dynamic balance and unity/disunity

 

- Design proposal of their intended studio projects for Art  Exhibition


- Art show & Portfolio: creating a personal portfolio of artwork, an artist statement and presentation of artwork

 

AVI 4M

 

This focuses on the refinement of students’ skills and knowledge in visual arts. Students will analyze art forms, use theories of art in analyzing and producing art, and increase understanding of stylistic changes in modern and contemporary Western art, Canadian art and various cultures around the world.

 

Students will produce a body of work demonstrating a personal approach specializing in two or three dimensional work making connections between art and society. This course aims ultimately to prepare senior students for art related programs at college or university level by the creation of a personal portfolio at the end of the semester.

 

Regular attendance, work developed in the classroom studio, a positive attitude and personal effort are essential to success in this course. Student success and enjoyment of the course depends on how much time, effort and imagination are put into the course requirements. This course is for students to utilize it to develop their artistic skills.

 

Prerequisites: AWP 3M or AVI 3M (AWT 3O with permission of the department)

 

Suggested preparation: AWM 4M
