Visual Art (Grade 9)

Students will explore various techniques, materials and media.

 

Projects for this course may include but are not limited to:

 

- Using shading techniques, texture and proportion to create a metamorphosis  between two distinctly different animals 

 

Exploring clay techniques to create an Egyptian Canopic jar

 

Learning the basic watercolour techniques within an arthistory context First Nation, Metis and Inuit art

 

 Exploring the elements & principles of art through design

This course emphasizes learning through practice; introducing and building the basics on what students will need to know in order to continue on and be successful in further art courses.

 

Through experimentation with several different mediums (pencil, ink, pencil crayon, watercolour and acrylic paint) students will learn about new ideas, materials and processes for artistic thinking and experimentation and how to successfully apply the elements and principles of design.

 

Students will also explore about the connections between their works of art and historical artwork in context.
