Welcome to the GCVI Arts Department for Visual Arts. We are so pleased to have you interested in our classes. 

DEPARTMENT EVENTS

GCVI Visual Arts students are encouraged to participate in a variety of events. Below are a list of some of the locations and activities provided to students throughout their time at GCVI.

AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario)

Visual Arts students  will visit the AGO and special exhibits. With a collection of over 90,000 works of art, and featuring an innovative architectural expansion by Frank Gehry, the AGO is among the most distinguished art museums in North America and offers an incredible art experience with each visit. 

​

Power Plant Contemp. Gallery 

Media Arts students have the opportunity to spend an afternoon in Toronto visiting the Powerplant Contemporary Gallery and the Distillery District. The Power Plant is one of Canada’s leading public galleries devoted to contemporary art, located in Toronto, Ontario at Harbourfront Centre

ART LAB at the AGG

All grade 9 students visit our local gallery - The Art Gallery of Guelph- to explore contemporary art within their community. ART LAB is an interactive program that supports the exploration of original artworks. It was developed in partnership between the AGG, GCVI and the UGDSB to focus directly on the grade 9 visual arts curriculum.

Arts Night!

Visual Arts, Drama & Music students exhibit their artwork and showcase all the great Arts programming we have at GCVI. This family event is open to all ages and the community is welcome to share in this wonderful opportunity to see what our talented students work on throughout their school year.

Student Art Exhbitions

     IB Year 2 Final Exhibitions:

Year 2 IB Visual Art Students showcase their artistic talents and dedication through a student curated art show. Locations and times vary by availability and scheduling. Check here for information for participating semesters.

     Grade 12 AVI 4M:

At the end of each Grade 12 AVI 4M Visual Arts course, students showcase their artistic talents and dedication through a student curated art show. Locations and times vary by availability and scheduling. Check here for information for participating semesters.
